Hello! My name is Mrs. Laura McCleary and I am the Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Monticello High School. The Parenting/Child Growth & Development class is open to all sophomores, juniors and seniors who wish to gain a better understanding of development and the responsibilities of parenthood. So far this year, the students have studied the development of children from preconception up to the age of five. We have discussed the decision to become a parent and the effect children have on our lives. We have discussed a variety of different preschool formats and even had the chance to visit a few wonderful preschools in the area.
A large portion of the Child Development class is the planning and implementation of the preschool. So far, students have worked very hard to choose an age-appropriate books, plan developmentally suitable crafts and outdoor activities.
